For you folks with corrected vision, how had it affected your photography? I'm starting to think I may need glasses for the first time. Not sure if its a low humidity problem that is drying my eyes out, but I'm getting them checked. Glasses vs contacts? Not big on the idea of putting something on my eye. Tell me.

Glasses and contacts won't make your eyes less dry. Besides eye drops, all I know about relieving dryness is (1) stay hydrated, (2) don't spend too much time indoors in winter, because heated air is dry unless you compensate with house plants or open containers of water, and (3) sleep enough.

My corrected vision affects my photography this way: When outdoors, I need glasses on to find a subject. Then I need to take them off to adjust settings and to check shots. So the glasses live in a pocket for a while.

Not just dry. But ever since I started working in an area with fluorescent lighting I feel like my eyes defocus when I'm not I tentionally focusing. Doesn't seem to affect me when I'm outside.

Glasses here, no affect on my photography. I can't wear contacts as I have astigmatism. There are a few different ways to approach the view finder. I used to take my glasses off when shooting, but realized one day I had stopped doing that and never noticed.

Question is that area you work in. What else is there. How is the ventilation system. I know my office has no humidification system, so it's a pretty dry environment at times which irritates my eyes at times. I would be hard pressed to think the fluorescent lighting would be causing you're issues.

Well, I need glasses. Kind of bummed out. This sounds stupid, but I don't want this to affect my love affair with the camera.

Glasses here. I can't use them for photography though. Real pain. No glasses for viewfinder, but I can't see the menus/selections without them. Contacts? Never! I won't even entertain the thought.

No worries. It's an adjustment, your love affair will continue and you will see things clearly :-)

Denpending on your prescription, you may be able to get away with not wearing your glasses while you're shooting. I'm able to get away with just using the viewfinder diopter adjustment. There are extra eyepieces that people can purchase that have magnification built in for Canon cameras, if the viewfinder diopter adjustment isn't strong enough.

I will use contact lenses at times. I just buy the daily disposable lenses and use them for however many hours is required.

I never shoot with glasses on. If I had to, I suppose I would try to use liveview.

I wear my glasses all the time. The only thing I've done is to buy/use a Think Tank view finder extender.... the ones they make for their waterproof camera covers. They aren't cheap but they are very nice. Jake, the Mod, recommended them. Stellar.

I thoroughly enjoy Nikon pro bodies like the D3s/D700/D810/D500 for their circular viewfinders and additional eye relief with glasses compared to the Canon 5D series and below cameras.

Not sure if this helps at all!

I have a strong correction for nearsightedness. Strong enough that I couldn't see the entire frame (let alone the information on the side/bottom) with glasses, and that taking the glasses off to shoot wasn't feasible. 28 years ago I shifted to gas-permeable contacts and the difference is amazing. I wish I'd done it sooner. If you're not willing to go for laser surgery, get contacts if you need a strong correction.

Gas-permeable contacts? What are those?

As someone who wore contacts many years ago this is very interesting new technology.

I am nearsighted, so I can shoot completely fine without my glasses on. However I can not shoot with my glasses on since I continuously hit my face and smudge my glasses. I tried contacts, and could not do them. Made my eyes itchy and I had troubles putting them in. I wanted laser surgery, but my one eye isnt bad enough yet, so they wont do it. As soon as it is though, I am going to get it done ASAP.

I have no problem seeing in the viewfinder. I started getting eye strain at work and watching TV.
