They are cool little birds, and one of my favorites. I love hearing their tinkling songs early in the morning.

Good one, Denis; I've photographed them, but have never captured the 'horns' as you have here.

Snowy winters are great for feeding them here on my farm. Horned larks love cracked corn and will find what I put out for them in the backyard by the afternoon after a good snow. A couple of weeks of snowy weather, and they can get rather tame/bold whatever you want to call it, and will come up to me when I go outside with my red can full of cracked corn. The rest of the year they are very skittish. There is an older couple about 45 minutes from me that feed them when it snows. A couple years ago they went through 1.5 tons of cracked corn feeding the Horned larks, Snow buntings, and Lapland longspurs. A couple years ago I had hundreds of Horned larks, Lapland longspurs, and Snow buntings coming in.

Wow! That,s so cool.we actually threw some seed in the field, and eventually they came in somewhat closer,to allow us to get a few pics!
There were no longspurs,or buntings with them, unfortunately!

Very nice Denis! One of the few birds that stay here year round. I don't see how they can stand 30-40f below weather but they do.
