Hello all... after hours and hours of research I have decided to move up from my T2i to possibly a 70D. I'm pretty sure its what i want but if the prices stay only 200.00 less than the 80D then why wouldn't i want the newer 80D model. Also, could (or should I) throw the 7D mkii into that mix? So when the 80D hits the shelves this month will there be another drop in price on the 70D or will it take more than a few months? My first choice for the 70D seemed like the natural progression so that's my initial motivation for that camera. I am open to the 7D mkii as well. I'm not trying to cheap out on the gear. I just consider myself a little.... thrifty. I would rather use the extra money on decent glass.

This is my first post so I'll apologize for putting the cart in front of the horse... I live in central Texas. I enjoy mostly shooting wildlife as well as sports. I used to shoot 35mm back in the day to include developing my own film. I lost touch with photography during the point and shoot craze as I never could get into it. So a few years back i picked up the T2i and started up again. I told myself i would use this until i felt i had "outgrown" it. Its actually a decent little rig that can take take really good pics. All that said.... I'm no expert and have never claimed to be. I learn more everyday i consider myself someone who simply likes to capture points in time.

I have read lots on this forum and found (and learned) some excellent information. Some of the photos on here have given inspiration and motivation to get out there and shoot more. You all are good!

thanks for any feedback you provide.

On a practical note, ask: "What do I need that the T2i is not providing?" That may help. If I were buying an aps-c camera right now, it would be an 80D. The improvement in AF over the 70D is significant. Over the T2i it is HUGE! You get 45 cross-type points - the T2i has 1. You get 27 AF points that function at f/8. That is more than the 1DX and 5D3, combined!
The improvements in video are only worthwhile if you do video. If you do video, get the 80D and get some STM lenses.

If the AF on the T2i is more or less adequate for your needs, you don't even come close to needing a 7DII. Take that one off the list, unless you need top-notch autofocus.

On the other hand, if you're just looking to spend some money, don't do video, and want the best all-around useful body you can get, look at the 5DIII. It may seem like overkill, but take my word for it. I'd have more money, and more camera, if I'd gotten a 5DIII first, instead of a 6D & 70D.

Canon 6D's are cheap right now as well if your interested in full frame. Depends on what you shoot since the af won't be as good as the ones your are looking at.
