OK my Sandisk USB 2.0 CF/SD 4 in 1 has worked very well ...but the new big MPS files were too much for it.
Naturally I thought well get the new USB 3.0 variant..............then I read the reviews .... apparently really cheap nasty tacky crap. Bent pins the lot!

Anyway the hunt was on for a really well built, from a big named brand was on . The best I could find was The Lexar Professional Workflow model.
Yeah I fully admit I am paranoid about a cheap CF card reader damaging the CF card, and that in turn damaging the Pins on my 5DS R.

Wish they would move to SD or something with robust connection - those needle like pins are mental!

All I can say is its well built great solid cable connection - firm , solid yet smooth, likewise putting the card in very very positive action.
As for the speed ............ technically no idea but a shoot on the USB that said 28 mins to doen load to a Samsung SSD ok on a laptop, but via a USB 3.0 port, now takes 6 mins.
So a great result for £18 :):)

When I move to the PC I will definitely get the complimentary SD SH1 Card reader
Just though I should let you guys no as hitherto I never rated Lexar, for no good reason just a Sandisk man historically.

Nice! I've had a great experience with my dual-slot Lexar USB 3.0 reader (http://www.bhphotovideo.com …sional_usb_3_0_dual.html) (external link), which gives me confidence in the brand.

Lexar also makes a pricey but interesting dock (Thunderbolt or USB3) that can hold up to 4 of your readers and related models (I believe they have SD, XQD, CFast, and even SSD storage modules to store data from the memory cards).

Yep this is part of the set.
Being a bit cheapskate I will now just buy the SD reader and leave it at that until maybe my camera takes CFAST.
But I do hope one day they will either CfAst or SD.
The 4 unit holder seems rather pricy as all the engineeringis in the individual readers.
I prefer this route rather than an all in one - if one gets an problem its only going to mean replacing an individual reader.

I use the Kingston USB 3.0 Media Reader which is excellent in my opinion, not missed a beat yet and very fast and robust.
