I had a look at your website. Some fantastic work there.

I read your blog on pro bno work with interest. I spent eight years living and working in Laos. I returned in September last year. I did a heap of pro bono work for various NGOs and enjoyed every minute of it. There's more satisfaction than just getting paid. Like you said, pick your organisation. A lot of my work revolved around the rehabilitation of UXO accident victims. One of the hardest job I did involved the rehabilitation and reintegration of women who are survivors of human trafficking. Really pulls on the heart strings and their stories are all nearly identical.

For nearly eight years my wife managed an education project funded by the Australian government. I got involved in that also which gave me the opportunity to travel to some of the remotest areas of Laos and made me a good number of contacts. During the evening I was a humble teacher but a photographer first.

My wife always claimed I'm a photographer but teaching is what I do. By the way, I had 17 years with Fairfax as a photojournalist and before that a self employed photographer.
