I'm thinking about submitting these for my course I just started - I need one that shows motion and one with large DOF. #1 spent a lot of time on it and I might just toss it. ND filter used on a partially cloudy day.

I have a few more photo opportunities coming up and I can always reshoot since I live closeby.

Feedback appreciated as always :D

#2 is better IMO.
Maybe a different aspect ratio? More 16:9 ish?
Foreground weeds are distracting
Taken later with car light trails would be cool, give it a more moody feel.

Note: I'm no expert.

The first one shows motion better, but the stationary bridge competes with the cars.

The second image looks nicer to me (I like it very much), but I didn't notice the motion of the cars initially. The bridge is what I notice as the main subject. I'm not convinced the bushes are a distraction, the line of the bridge leads my eye away from them.

In addition to light trails suggested above, maybe see if you can get shots of the toll booth area on the NJ side. I can't suggest a location to get such an image, but maybe one that shows the cars waiting at the same time some are accelerating from the toll might give some contrast in motion.

Thanks.

Another of #2, this time without as much of the bushes:

That is good too. Looks like the same angle, but fewer bushes and the breakwater is hidden too at the base of the bridge. I'm trying to decide about the branch in the upper right corner. It doesn't seem to detract from the image and may contrast nicely with all the man-made objects.

I think the motion in #1 adds an interesting element. Reshoot it just before & after sunset.

#2 looks much better without the bushes..as suggested, it would look nice later in the day with some light trails from the cars.

I agree, go back there just before sunset and shoot through sunset from your favorite spot. Mine would be the last photo you showed us but maybe from right at that wall with a wider lens to get the same view as your photo.

You will be able to get much longer shutter speeds and when it gets darker, just after the sun goes away but the sky is still blue ("the blue half-hour") is the best time. The bridge will still stand out nicely. Just a little later the sky will be black which is not is not so lovely.

This should get you an A.

Here's an example of what I'm thinking you could shoot for:

As mentioned, sunrise/sunset, or late night would dramatically change this picture (for the better I believe). Looks like a great location though with good potential.
