Summer Twins, shooting with a manual focus 1960's 1.2 lens

Our local small venues here are really not set up for photographers at all(no surprise), even worse they all have two story ceilings that are painted black so can't even bounce flash! Most of the time I just remote triggers some flashes but this time I wanted to try my 1966 Canon FL 55mm 1.2 with just ambient.

All were wide open F1.2, ISO 6,400 and 1/160 on my Sony A7(which is a breeze to manual focus on).

The Summer Twins are one of my favorite bands at the moment, currently at a US tour so catch them while they're near you! They play catchy rock and roll/dream pop.

The other guy in the background had a 6D so I don't know why he wasn't using the amazing high ISO on that! I've gotten clean shots at 25,600 on that body in this venue before.

because I asked him, he was at ISO 100 and 1:1 power on the flash.

I'll dig up the files I took at this venue with a 6D, that day it was even worse they turned off the lights to "set the mood".


I hate when they do that! Thankfully I had a buddy there that day that just handed me his 6D because he already knew lol
Back then I had a 60D which started to look horrible by ISO 5,000.

I love that comment about trying to "set the mood", I've heard it too many times. Maybe that guy thought he was shooting with a Canon AE-1
