Some (not important) photos disappeared from the CF card on my Canon 7D MKII, now assuming that a child (my 7 year old) did not do this, is this possible or must it be human error?
I have changed it so it saves on both cards to stop this happening again.

Why not give it to your child again and see if more photos disappear?

I wonder if they "disappeared" or if they were accidentally deleted, or even formatted. If you have it, try running some undelete or recovery software on that card and see what it reveals. I do like Archibald's suggestion though ;-)a

If he is prepared to pay for a new camera if it gets broken we can try it.
It was about 40 odd photos so I am not sure how it can happened. As the photos were not important (just practice) I am not that bothered just puzzled.

I don't think I have ever had pics disappear by themselves from a card. Of course it is easy to delete photos in the camera. So accidental deletion seems to be the most likely explanation.

When put into a card reader, does the computer indicate any errors in the card?

As sapearl suggested, you could run recovery software to get the deleted pics back. The shots might not be important, but knowing about photo recovery might be useful for the future.

No error but it is a 16Gb card and full with 100 photos so I guess corruption has happened and needs formatting.

How long have you had the camera and the CF card?

I see ... that is sinister if it is full with only 100 photos. In that case I would replace the card!

The camera a few months, the card at least 18 months if not a lot longer.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the child. My 6 year old grandson has been at my house a few times when everything off my cell phone (ring tones, emails, photos, etc) and lots of stuff off my computer has been deleted. I'm not blaming him, but I've never seen the cats at the keyboard.

I know how you feel, the other day my mobile went missing - he had hidden it! However there was not time today (I think) for him to have done that.
