A friend just sent a link to one of those little quizzes on Facebook. After viewing several pictures choosing brightest colour, identifying subtle tones, etc it gives you your eye age.

He is 68 and his result was 64 compared to me at 41 with eyes of an 18 year old.

Made me wonder just how differently we all see images posted on here.

huge difference between individual human perception, just as big of a difference, if not bigger, with individual browsers, monitors, room conditions, etc.

I think I saw the test you are talking about, "what color are these two pills?"? pretty darn non-scientific, although i only looked at the first few images before quitting.

here's a real color test :D http://www.xrite.com/online-color-test-challenge (external link)

Also don't forget how big of a role the display you are viewing things on plays in things like this.

I got to test a project like this a few years ago across dozens of devices, and my score had nearly an 80% spread due to just how different colours could look on different displays.

Steve,

Would you please post a link to the Facebook test of which you refer?

Thanks

.

Does anyone know of a study conducted of colour perception of people viewing an image in identical viewing conditions?

I'm 63 but don't have the title to prove it.

I scored a 61, but I have a real (as in identified by an optometrist) problem with colors. Those color-dot tests for colorblindness drive me crazy!

I've taken these before and monitors make a HUGE difference. On my desktop I tended to do rather well as it has a decent calibrated monitor. On my laptop a blind cave salamander had better color recognition that I did :)

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.
