They asked me to do both their engagement shoot, and the wedding, and there was no way I could say no. It was very small, and was a blast to shoot because I've known he and his family for many years. I felt more comfortable than I ever have, with my very limited experience (my 4th wedding as the actual photographer). Please let me know what you think.

Nice job!

I think I would have liked the sunset-behind-them cropped vertically...but it's very dreamy!

The last sunset one worked well too!

Thank you!

They really like boats, and nautical stuff, so having the dock in the background actually made it that much better in their eyes.

Nice work. If the rest of the album is at this level I'm sure they'll be very pleased.
RE the backlit shot-- then why not rotate around so that more of the boats are in the BG?

I hadn't thought of that. There were actually no boats at the dock at the time, and I was concentrating more on having the sun in the position that it was, than I was on the dock.

Thank you Gal.

The last image is the best of this set.

Is this one shopped? There seems to be a line running through it...

I like them, but to me, they look placed into the photo on that wide water shot. Is that from over sharpening? It looks like the groom isn't even standing on anything. The light on the subject doesn't match the rest of the scene. Maybe it is just my monitor, but the whole image looks like there are vertical lines through it.

The tighter shot looks like the subject is in one square of space lit in one way and then on the left, there is another rectangle with a completely different exposure.

No, they were not shopped into the photos. I really didn't even do all that much editing to them, other than some sharpening and minor color saturation. They climbed down onto some rocks that were at the edge of the water.

The difference in color on them was because of using my flash as a fill, and not putting a gel on it.

Edit: IIRC, I darkened the background slightly, so that's probably why the color looks different.

I was just looking at them again, and I see the lines as well, but it's only in the water, so I have to assume that it was just because of the ripples in the water, and the very low sun.

Nice shots. My only two and minor, would be when ever you ask a bride to turn towards you with her body in another direction, it really brings out the lines in her neck as it does on your last photo posted. I would pull them and then adjust opacity to make them not stand out as much and soften them. And the other but not a big deal is I might have done something with her dress on the water shot to not show like she has a short skirt underneath, but not required and really your call on that one. Otherwise, nice set.

Thanks for the advice. I hadn't thought of that before, but now that I see it, it's glaring straight at me.
