I like my Rovelight RL-600B. It's been a good solid performer for me both in-studio and in the field. I was looking at buying a couple more of them, until I came across this Youtube video (note: from 2014):

This reviewer alleges that when his Flashpoint light died, he was left high and dry, with Adorama essentially telling him they have no after-warranty service available for their in-house Flashpoint brand products. I've heard similar stories about Godox lights. If this is true, it could be what finally pushes me to get Profoto or Broncolor monolights.

Has anyone here tried to get service for an out-of-warranty Flashpoint strobe? If so, did you get anywhere with that? Referral to a service center even? I'm very hesitant to buy something that is basically disposable if it fails, even at the price point of the Flashpoint strobes.

Keep in mind when you purchase from Adorama you can get extra cover for further years pretty inexpensively. As well as drop and spill type cover.

Personally I think that's one of the biggest advantages of purchasing from stores like that in this age of disposable type gear.

You have to factor in the service costs of higher end gear as well, its not going to take much to go over the cost price of the RoveLights. That's why its difficult to provide a repair and service model with relatively inexpensive gear. No doubt it will happen eventually with the rise of companies like Godox, though they would still have to make it cost effective.

You can purchase a 'New Leaf' warranty to support your Flashpoint purchase outside of Adorama's own warranty period.

And we DO offer ongoing support. For example, on most pieces we can usually offer up to 50% discount on a brand new replacement unit - which IMHO for the customer beats paying for an old unit to be repaired.
