Sony users being salty on my thread, lol: https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=17940330

Starts thread featuring a video about someone complaining about Sony's service in Australia, gives a pass to Canon in Australia when similar (or worse) complaints are highlighted...

Sounds like I won't be moving to Australia anytime soon. Sorry to hear your experiences. Are there any better camera companies / repair centers in Australia that you can switch to? Or do you cope with Canon some other way? Perhaps a local repair shop? Any solutions for your situation?

But yeah, it's the Sony users who are "salty". You crack me up

There are going to be genuinely horrible anecdotes from customer service from any company - especially when regional differences are considered.

For me, here in the US, my preference came down to a simple thing of the professional service program, like CPS. With CanonUSA CPS I only need one Canon camera to qualify, whereas Sony's pro program requires two bodies.

If Matt's video is accurate, then CPS has more stringent requirements to enter in Australia. Regions make a difference. Maybe Nikon service is better there. Anyway, I just post this to say that Matt's video seemed fair, sincere, and understandable. But, it may go too far to extrapolate his experience anecdote with that particular regional service center to apply across the board with all regions.

One thing I do know though, here in the US Sony does not provide direct customer repair service, but Canon does. That is a positive for Canon...and hopefully Sony's user base will continue to grow so they can justify opening their own service centers.

I dropped a Sony e mount lens about a year ago. I sent it to the Sony repair place in Texas. They replaced the part of the lens casing and returned it to me with no charge in a little over a week door to door. This was my only transaction with Sony but it went o.k.
I sent a defective 7D camera back to Canon four times. It would quit in cold weather and would not power up. That was a miserable experience but after three months of fighting with them they finally replaced the body. That was one of five or six separate repairs I have had done at Canon. The other went well with reasonable repair times.
My one experience with Sony was good and most of my experiences witH Canon were good. Maybe it is Sony Australia that has a big problem.j

I didn't give Canon a pass. You're being salty. :-D I got some good info from Choderboy. Read the yelp reviews for precision camera in Connecticut, Sony's American repair center, and you'll know Australia is hardly an isolated region.

It looks like Canon Canada and Australia suck, and Sony America and Australia suck so far.

Which Sony repair center is in Texas? It was first party? This would be helpful to know for those shooting Sony if you've found a good repair center.
