Post your repair and customer service experiences, good and bad! I want to know which are the most reliable brands and camera models and the companies with the best customer service! Cameras, bags, stores, local repair shops, you name it!

Three experiences to share:

Fuji X100 - great. Fixed the sticky aperture problem on a camera bought 2nd hand from Europe. Fuji paid shipping both ways and had the camera back within about 8 days. Excellent service.

Sony A7R - good. A7R bought used but still under the warranty period. Would not turn on...sent to Sony service back in 7 days like new. Great service.

5d - oops. 5d had a shutter issue. Sent in for service at a cost of $245. Camera came back still not working....back to Canon service...2nd time it was fixed. Don't know what they did the first time, but they sure did not test the fix as it was very obvious the problem still existed. Was out nearly 1 month without the camera.

Is Sony in Canada their own in house repair center? Or are they using a really good third party service center in your experience? If so, who would that be?

.

I took a 100-400 and a 400 f2.8 IS into CPS in 2011. I just took them in for a free check & clean, and asked if they would give me a quote on how much it would be to have the front element be replaced for each of them (there were scratches on both of the front elements and I was contemplating selling both lenses).

Canon did the check & cleans, replaced the AF system in the 100-400, replaced the IS system and the AF chassis in the 400 f2.8, and replaced the front elements in both lenses.
Total charge: $00.00
Free.

The "cost" on the work done on the 400 f2.8 was over $4,000, but they said they just did all of that as preventive maintenance, and that none of it really needed to be done, so they weren't charging me anything. I think sometimes it really helps to take things in and drop them off in person, instead of shipping things in. Face-to-face contact with a real live human goes a long way toward making people want to please you!

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Tom, that is very, very cool! It's great when people go the extra mile and your'e right, that happens a lot more often when you're face to face with someone and you're being cool to them.

Good stuff!
