Brooding

Bring me you dark, your moody, your film noir images. Low Key, Black & White, grainy, whatever you feel captures the mood.
Have fun being bringing us down!

This challenge begins when posted, and will end at 6:00 p.m. Pacific time Thursday, 24 March 2016. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

Standard Rules apply:
Photo Submissions:

1. Camera: Any Digital Camera, but NO Cell Phones.
   
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.

4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
   
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge. Camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
   
6. Commenting: No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
   
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.

Some Days...

Competition is officially over. Just got back from Kamloops...will post the winners in a little while...after wine...

So here are my thoughts on the images (I always find this the hardest because I always think that I’ll offend someone…)

M_Six – love the tones and that sense of an impending storm, you’ve caught the feeling of an ominous event soon to come to pass

Benitoite – very dark subject, but I didn’t find the image itself to be very brooding, without your caption I wouldn’t quite have known what you were going for

groundloop – cemeteries can be ominous and brooding but your image was a little too light and inviting for my taste

airfrogusmc – I like the processing and the tones, it’s a great image, with great counterpoints between the subjects, but the smile on the face of the snowman and the hint of a smile on the man takes away from the potential for brooding and subdued

teekay – I love the dark alleyway with the bright subject as the main focus, I think that it leaves the viewer with a story, some of us thinking “go down there and see what’s there” and some of us thinking “don’t go down there, you’re going to die!”

Tom Reichner – a mournful subject with destruction being predominant but, I find that fire brightens an image and takes away from the brooding elements, maybe the smoldering aftermath might have been more compelling?

lavanut – truly a brooding depressed figure but I’m finding the processing to be too bright and “airy” (is airy the right word?) for my taste. For this challenge if there was more darkness or maybe a hint of rain and wind and storm I would have found this image more in line with the subject

Congrats, teekay! A good choice for the theme, darkslinger. I put my image in on a whim. I'd been waiting for some occasion to use it, and I just thought it might fit. Actually, groundloop's image made me think of using it.
