Have you ever noticed that a lot of informal phrases regarding photography equipment are quite perverse and/or violent? For example, Pixel Peeping, Measurebating, magnesium alloy and lenses being so tank like that they can be used as bludgeoning weapons? Can we find the very first occurences of these phrases or trace their usage via other forum posts?

What's your guilty camera-related pleasure or word-play?

Well, shooting or shoot, that's about as violent as one can get. Blown out could be violent but might be fun as well ;).
But there are non-violent ones as well like dust bunnies on the sensor, chimping, or golden hour.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Aha, good point. Fun fact, I think the origin for this term (to shoot film) comes from Étienne-Jules Marey's chronophotographic gun https://en.m.wikipedia.org …photographique_Marey1.png (external link), one of the predecessors to the moving picture camera / cinema industry.

Nice one!

Aha, cute dust bunnies. Is this specific to photography though or a general term?
Chimping's kinda derogatory if we're to think of the implied connotation?
Golden hour is a misnomer because it's not an hour, right?

Read the rest of the sentence. "It's so sturdy, I could bash someone's brains in with it.". I'm not sure where I heard that one before...but I'm sure I've heard it!

Well, then I guess Scott Kelby's in trouble, with that chapter in one of his books: 'How to shoot people like a pro'. :-D

How many different ways can I misconstrue 'BBAF' and 'M.Fn Button'?
