Probably a bit (all right, a lot) more than you want, but I use this (external link). It may seem excessive, but I also use it to hold a Gigapan Epic Pro (external link) when shooting 360 panoramas of cockpit interiors, for which it's perfect. So, since I have it around . . . I swap out the Gigapan for a RRS BH-40 or BH-55 and focusing rail.

I've always wanted one of these (external link).

Fairly similar to Jon - I use the Gitzo 3320BS. Out of print now but a great little tripod if you can find one. It supports anything, well up to about 100 kilos or so, extremely rigid and quite compact. It is total overkill for normal uses but that's just what you want for Macro!

I wouldn't trust the center column, and I'd be cautious about using the legs at full extension, but bearing that in mind, it could be a start. My biggest concern would be the pan-tilt head. I rather suspect it won't hold well, since it's probably high-density poly. I don't see any reference to it being removable, which would let you upgrade to a solider (probably ball-type) head. This (external link) sounds somewhat sturdier and more versatile. I still wouldn't use it with a center column extended, but it's Arca-Swiss compatible and the ball head seems to be removable so you can upgrade incrementally as needed.
