Confirm that you can't set zoom with controller, further, with X1 attached to a 7D2, I can not change zoom using in camera control either.

I can also confirm that setting the zoom on the flash units holds.

that's a bummer, I guess I'm sticking with yn-622tx for now cause I utilize this feature quite a bit for rim light and sometimes hair light, yn-622 allows setting zoom for each of the three groups via controller. The reason I was considering switching to X1 is cause I really like the idea of 850ii flash with Li-ion vs YN-685 I use now and it's frustruting to change batteries every day (200 shots at most) - I use it at 1/2 or full power mostly.

FYI, the zoom feature in the built in camera settings is there, but it was rendered non functional.
The X1 clearly does not have the feature in it's menus,. but I wonder if a firmware update could allow it to pass on the communication so that the camera menu could set it?

Also, I was using a Non Canon GODOX ETTL flash. I assume that using a Canon flash would make no difference, as the X1 is still what the camera is talking to.

I think if you have a system that's working for what you are doing, you should stick with it. Why mess with success?

The Zoom feature in the Canon menu only allows control over the zoom generically. So changing the zoom will effect all heads no matter which group they're in.

And correct in thinkig it's the X1

EDIT: Found this about custom functions within the X1TC -- C.Fn-02 – Zoom Setting – [– – = No changes] [AU = Changes with lens] [20, 24, 28, 35, 50, 70, 80, 105…]

Haven't checked on this forum in a long while.

Where can I find firmware information on camera compatibility? I'm currently using the 1DX II and 5D IV...have a 5DIII backup for use with my current triggers (Cells C II) and am wondering if there is future support with the X1 and the HSS manual trigger (I forget what it's called). The dynamic range on the II and IV are just blissful that I've been shooting more natural light, but would love to do some f/1.2 shots on the new cameras instead of switching to the 5D III every time I want HSS.

My X1 appears to function fine on a 5D4 without any firmware upgrade. It's relatively new X1, but it is certainly older than the 5D4.

My AD360ii-c and AD600 work for the 5D4 just like they did on the 5D3, but my X1R-c's cannot do ETTL with the EX600RT's on them and wouldn't work at all until I installed firmware V17 (from V15).

Hey there guys,

Is there a list somewhere I can look at of compatible flashes to the Godox X1. What I mean by compatible is a flash that I don't need to attach a receiver, will any 2.4ghz flash be compatible with the X1?

Thank you.

The answer to that is no. The radios from each manufacturer are unique, such that
Godox is different from Pocket wizard which is different from YONGNUO etc. You can buy a
receiver that you mount a Sony, Nikon, Canon flash flash to make it compatible with a Godox
Flash with a built in radio transmitter. If you want to control the power and the flash sync, you will
need compatible radios.

If you provide the brand of flash, and camera you are working with someone can provide transmitter/receiver offerings that might work with your devices.

Hope this helps,

110yd

Aside from Godox/Flashpoint brand , is there any Yongnuo flash compatible with the X1 Transmitter?

The answer again is no, but you can mount YN triggers on top of a Godox transmitter such that
the Godox trigger will allow you to pass thru the YN . The key take away needs to be emphasized that the radios from Manufacturer A are not compatible with Manufacturer B---even if they are
both 2.4 Ghz or 433Mhz.

Hope this helps,

110yd
