I have been racking my brain... I need some help or advice to steer me in the right direction.

I am running a Canon 7dii Sigma 150-600C set up for wildlife/birds.

I just snagged a Side Kick. I currently have a Suiri k-30x ball head and a Giottos Silk Road YTL9213.

I am afraid that the tripod won't be super sturdy enough for my set up.

I'm 5-10. I was looking at Induro but it seems that the Tripods in the 290-350 dollar range are around 58 inches. Not thinking it will be tall enough.

What other options are there, and what are you running on a similar set up?

Im not opposed to either CF of Aluminum, Although I think CF would be nicer.

Thanks in advance,

Cole

I bought a Benro a4470tn to use with my 6D and 500f4....Super sturdy and less than £200.... If you can live with aluminium it is a lot of tripod for the money...

I wouldn't get too hung up on the height of the tripod as there is a head and camera on top - this will add quite a bit of height. My main tripod is almost exactly 58" tall and I have yet to use it at full extension for wildlife - I am 5'9".

Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).

Heya,

I often use a simple, light weight, aluminum-mag Benro A2970F with an Obteka GH1 Gimbal & Smith & Victor BH8 (ballhead). It holds my 1D2 & 150-600 without any issues, very sturdy, smooth too. Inexpensive setup. I'm 5"10 and it is too tall at full extension by quite a bit to look through the viewfinder.

If I were going to buy a new tripod dedicated to a big lens, it would be this one probably:

Induro AT203 (external link) - No center column, goes low, goes high, sturdy, can take weight.

Very best,

That 313 is a fantastic set of legs. It was my 2nd set of Induro legs, and with it's tall center column it is a great do all set up. Right up there with Gitzo 3 series for intended use and durability.

It is NOT one of the "systematic style" (those are called Induro Grand like the AT 203 MalVeauX linked to). ie: it has a center column and you must use a center column.

Gitzo Systematic and Induro Grand come with no center column and instead have the center plate that can be removed and replaced with a leveling bowl, geared column etc..

On the 313 If the center column gets in the way, (ie it's too tall to let you get low to the ground) you can swap it for a short one for about $50.00

As a matter of fact, my 313 is at work equipped with the stock center column and a K30 head, always ready to use for any situation.

So I received my CF 313 today! Put the K30 on it and the Wimberley sidekick! I'm headed to Yellowstone tomorrow for a day trip to try it out! Pretty excited. Thanks for all your guy's help!
