New Canon 50mm (1.4?) on the way

Would love to see a new midrange 50mm lens from Canon. The current 1.4 really isn't all that great. The 1.2 could also use an upgrade, but there is just a big gap in the midrange for Canon.

What do you think?

I read that yesterday. The current f/1.4 is nearly obsolete in light of the other options, so, yes, their intermediate 50 needs it more for sure. I'm curious about that and the direction Canon chooses for any revision of the 50L.
