Thanks, Trevor; they are very wary and can run like the devil. That's why it was so strange to come upon a stationery one.

Wonderful shots Al, and glad inching closer worked out for you. That happens to me from time to time too, unusual and for no reason lack of focus, then BAM! it's back. Could be as you said, a fuzzy subject with perhaps not sufficient contrast, although the bird and the post look pretty distinct against that blue Arizona sky.

Thanks, Ian. I do think it's the lack of contrast, especially when spot focusing.

Well done Al. I think the issue is the low contrast. That is how I chalk up with the poor focus issue.
