So I think I've had enough of this lens. Someone prove me otherwise.

I now have 3 copies in my posession. Two are soft @ 2.8 @ 75mm (one REALLY soft) and the third is definitely acceptable but it back focuses like crazy @ 65-75mm.

So frustrating. Can anyone tell me they have a beautiful copy wide open that focuses correctly @ ALL focal lengths?

My focuses correctly at all FL with 2.8, but only of object is close or near by. If I have relatively small object far away it doesn't focus accurately often.
But I have 70-200 for situations like this.

^Nice portrait set mtiotuico!

Mine is sharp at f/2.8 at all focal lengths, but for low contrast subjects far away it sometimes misses focus and grabs onto something more contrasty nearby. Now I'm aware of that and am more careful, so it works well now.

^ Nice portraits!

Btw. do any of you use polarizers with your 28-75 on a FF camera? I have found that my normal Hoya polarizer gives dark corners on my 5D. Will a slim filter eliminate this, or do I have to accept vignetting to some degree with all "screw-on" type filters?

Just a couple of shots, not related to my question:
