I have just received this lens over the weekend, and I have to say from my limited use I am liking it!

Today I also received my light stand, shoot through umbrella, reflector and swivel bracket, so had a quick play with it all by shooting a self portrait.

This is my first attempt at OCF, the flash was to camera right at about 90 degrees to the camera and about 6' away from me and about 6'5" high, I had the reflector behind me, but don't think it reflected much light due to the angle.

40D, 28-75 @ 28mm, f6.3, 1/250, ISO 200, flash on full power.
PP: selective colour black channel +5 on both me and the background, USM on just me. I couldn't be bothered straightening the shot though.

I finally picked up another copy of this lens last night 'hoping' it would be as sharp as my last, no test batteries or shooting boxes, my kitties are my usual test subjects. Tho I don't think Max was amused. I am happy to find that this lens is infact sharper than my last (once I removed that darn filter they had on there, my initial tests when I actually purchased it were quite soft) lol, tho I had a feeling it was all due to the filter... filters folks, dont do it

wow you are right, big difference when I edit it normally in LR, I had no idea just how much this lens vignettes. Is easily corrected tho.

Yup that better. Is is easy in LR, and not enough reason for me to give up this lens. I'm playing with the thoughts of a 24-105 for over 3 years now, but Tammy is good for me!!!

First time actually out of the house w/ the lens It didnt let me down. Of course The subjects didnt do much. Local town fair going on, we'll see how it goes, we have horse riding later, fair rides, games & fireworks
