Is this normal? I compared it against my 35mm f2 (only because I have to choose between the two can only keep one). The 35 was a lot sharper at 2.8 further away (Tamron (set at 35mm) won at 4.0 and 5.6 further away). And 35mm was also sharper up close for 2.8, 4.0, and 5.6. Obviously I can't compare Tamrons other focal lengths to the 35 since that's all it has. I'm still so confused on which to keep! The 35 does a lot better indoors for me, but I like the zoom on the Tamron.
