So I have me a dog for a year today

Dear Board,

One year ago today my wife and I brought a pit bull home. She didn't want a new dog, and she really didn't want a pit bull.

It's been a year and I know now why my wife Theresa didn't want a dog. She didn't want one because she gets hurt by the crushing loss that is felt when a dog goes away.

She's Sicilian and I'm Irish. She takes things to heart and I just shrug and sniffle and move on.

We brought this dude home the last Saturday of March last year.

Here is our main man today one year later.

He is a wonderful dog, and for a bully breed he has nothing that makes him a bully.

That's a fine looking dog you have there.

As a mailman I can testify that not all Bullys are bullies.

To help with pain when he ultimately leaves you, take lots of pics to remember him by!!! I sure wish I had more of mine.

Thanks for the kind words but this dude hates getting his picture taken.

I'll take more pictures but the best place for a dog to live for me is in my memory. All of my dogs have been good dogs and well loved by not just me or my wife but by those people who met them.

I never had a dog as a kid and didn't get my first until I was 36 years old. She was a wonderful dog and she convinced people that never had a dog to get a dog. She passed in 2005 and I was given a dog by my neighbor because the dog took to me better than she took to his wife and children. She was an even better dog.

I'm convinced this dog is better than the two previous ones put together. What I'm not convinced of is if that is actually the case or if I think that because I have grown as a dog owner and now I'm better at the job?

Either way he's a keeper and I'll get another down the road if I'm still able to keep up with one. But I'll enjoy this dude as long as I can.
