March 19/20 was a cold, dull weekend at Goodwood, UK, but for those that braved it, there were some wonderful machines to see, and experience them racing flat out like they were meant to be. Here's a small selection from many shots I took:
The Lotus 79 that conquered all in the 1978 Formula 1 season.
1913 Monarch Special. These days all you can see of a racing driver is his helmet - 100 years ago you could see all the way down to his toes!
A field of Astons, E-Types and Cobras at the start of the Graham Hill Trophy.
Ian Simpson, eventual race winner, leads a pack of '70s 2-stroke Yamahas.
A field of Mk1 Ford GT40s at the beginning of the hour-long Alan Mann Trophy race, that went into the dusk.
As dusk fell, the glowing brake disks shone out, after heavy braking at the end of the main straight.
Start of the Derek Bell Cup for 1-litre Formula 3 cars from the late 60s. Notice the white car towards the right, which had just rubbed wheels with the car in front, lifting his nose right up. He continued the race without damage.
And finally an amazing Fiat, fitted with an engine from a WW1 airship! I thought I'd give it a period processing, seeing as everyone was wearing fairly timeless clothes. I really like it.

Very nicely done!!!
