Just got a Canon 70-300mm IS II USM yesterday and took it out this morning to test and overall I'm very happy with it, especially the lightning fast AF and 4-stop IS.

I continue to marvel at the depth of colour my 80D gives me, even on a dull, dark day. This is detail from a peacock.

Stopped down at the dock behind my office on my lunchbreak and caught this guy eating from a garbage can ten feet behind me.

When I was at the dock yesterday grabbing some quick photos of the birds, after climbing up on the actual dock I went to focus on a bird sitting on one of the pylons but when I hit my BBF button the entire viewfinder remained blurry. I panicked thinking the used Canon 70-300mm IS II USM I had purchased only days before had crapped out on me. However the AF seemed to be moving at least, so I checked the diopter. Nope, nothing wrong there. Then I realized the vf eyepiece was dislodged, and sure enough that's all it was! *sigh of relief*

Figured I'd share my moment of stupidity in case someone else runs into this problem, as it happens easily when you have to squeeze your camera body into a bag.

Kurrious you're going to love the 80D, it's AF capabilities and DR are so far beyond the XSi. I just picked up an 18-135mm IS USM as well, I don't use my 18-135mm IS STM that often but love the AF speed of my 70-300mm IS II USM so figured it was worth the upgrade for only $200. Looking forward to trying it out with the 80D as well as my backup M6.

Anyway, enjoy the new kit and any questions you have I'm sure you'll be able to find an answer from the knowledgeable people here.

My great nephew Clare at Thanksgiving Dinner 2017. The light in my parents' kitchen was terrible but I'm still happy with how they came out!
