These are amazingly beautiful shots...so nice. I really like the shot of the two blue damselflies refueling. And the swallowtail butterfly with the lavender flowers, and green background is incredible!

Two shots of the same dragonfly, in different lighting conditions (both not ideal):
In full sun and in the shade. Tried to use the camera internal flash for the second one to lighten the shadows a bit and make it look a little less dull. Didn't work all that well, but the dragonfly was gone by the time I got the external flash out of the bag.

Excellent, as usual. Don't know how you do it, Michael. I never even see insects like those, let alone manage to photograph them.

I just can't believe what nice work you've been doing. The two shots of the dragonflies are so sharp and colorful.

Thanks guys!

Terry, at least in my neck of the woods finding dragonflies and damselflies is pretty easy this time of the year. I can't go to any body of water without seeing any. While damsels can be a bit skittish, dragons don't care much about me getting close and are mostly pretty easy to shoot (except for those species that never seem to settle down anywhere).

I wish it was that easy with birds, but birds here are so shy that I almost never manage to get close enough.
