Butterfly have been pretty much eluding me so far this year. Haven't seen many and those I've seen didn't want to hold still for me to take a shot.
I got lucky this weekend when I found a large patch of flowers with lots of butterflies all over them. It was very hard to avoid blowing out the white petals, though, so I had to ditch a lot of shots

Great work on these two, just like all the others you've posted. They really are nice.

I went back to the flower patch today after work, wanting to shoot some butterflies again. There were none around, though (probably too late in the day, I guess?) so I shot damsels instead:

Both of those shot are absolutely wonderful. I don't think there is any more room for improvement. You my have to move on to something more challenging, such as climbing Mount Everest.

Just kidding of course.

That would be some epic landscape photos!

true. I'd love to go, but I'm 100% sure I'd be dead on the mountain

LOL, thanks a lot!
These shots were born out of frustration, actually. When I saw zero butterflies at the flower patch I was about to head straight home again. Then I decided to walk around the nearby pond looking for dragonflies and my frustration level rose even higher when again, I saw none. Then I saw the damsels and thought "OK OK, I'll get the camera out of the bag and take a couple of shots of those"

I wouldn't say I refuse to go. Luckily i can't afford it either! My luck if I did go and survive my camera would get broken somehow. Or the sd card would have an error.
