As well as recently upgrading to an 80D, I've ditched Elements and am learning Lightroom. Very impressed. This was what I thought was an unrescuable, dark image, but LR does the trick. Some noise, but it was very late in the day and almost dark. Sorry, it's nothing more exotic than a gull!

How much does the 80D's improved AF help an older lens that may not be the fastest focuser? Something like the Tamron SP A09 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD IF. I understand the lens is the primary factor, but can a newer camera help compared to an older Rebel?

Potentially the faster processor in the 80D would speed up things. I guess looking at the system collectively if the older rebel focuses slower the bottle neck can be the body. You will never know until you put that same lens on the 80D.

The benefits of the 80D is micro adjust. That alone is a massive step above a rebel series IMO. So many more other benefits of the 80D vs Rebel.

In theory, it should focus a touch faster on the 80D vs a rebel.
