Terrycanon Cream of the Crop More info | Nov 06, 2016 13:08 | #395 What's this? A plant? Water spouts? Actually, it's a firework, one of a few hand-held shots I took at a display last night. I reckon it looks quite artistic, and different from the usual firework pics. Image hosted by forum (823379) © Terrycanon [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. First thing to do is to learn how to micro adjust your lenses now. This will assure tack sharp images. 5Dmkiv |5Dmkiii | 24LmkII | 85 mkII L | | 16-35L mkII | 24-70 f/2.8L mkii| 70-200 f/2.8 ISL mkII| 600EX-RT x2 | 580 EX II x2 | Einstein's

AlanU wrote in post #18180009 First thing to do is to learn how to micro adjust your lenses now. This will assure tack sharp images. I feel the 80D is one of the Canon's sweet offerings in the crop sensor body. It produces a different less digital looking file with pleasant sharpness. The files seem more organic which feels more like how my old canon 5d classic full frame provided me. So far my fuji crop sensor provides me a "meaty/rich" file that almost feels like manipulating a RAW file in Lightroom. The 80D has a very nice RAW file that you can push/pull in light room too. This is extremely cool considering that Canon has improved alot in the crop sensor world. I purchased the 80D with no expectations of anything great from a Canon crop sensor. I purchased it strictly for dual pixel technology video application. I was quite wrong and really find the 80D to be great performer. I picked up an inexpensive 24 f/2.8 stm prime and was extremely shocked in IQ it provides. Have fun! Agreed. I've never owned a FF camera, I still want a 5DmkIII. But in the mean time I can be completely happy with this camera. Aside from the fact the high ISO still leaves me wanting better performance. I rented a 7DmkII several months ago. And to my untrained eye, I feel the high ISO there was slightly better than the 80D. But only when viewing at 100%. Or worse yet pixel peeping. Which is a horrible habit I wish I'd never gotten into. Thought it does help determine which image is the sharpest of a set of burst shots where there are say 10 otherwise identical images. I want to die peacefully, in my sleep, like my grandfather.

Thought it does help determine which image is the sharpest of a set of burst shots where there are say 10 otherwise identical images. My tamron 70-300 needed MAF, but my new 70-200 f/4L IS USM, does not. It's already tack from 70 through 200 even at f/4. Tamron was sold a few weeks ago. To help fund it's replacement. As I never used it past 250mm anyway since it was soft at the longer end regardless of aperture. I also noticed a lot of leeway with the RAW files. Coming from a T3 (not even T3i) myself. It's a huge step up! With the T3 files I routinely pushed the shadows to 100% or close to it. Withe the 80D's RAW files I usually just go to around 50%. Much further and it starts to look like overcooked HDR. Which is good there is that much DR to an image! I just don't like the overdone look.
