I borrowed a friend's 100L for a weekend to try it out. Great lens, I love having IS for close-up/macro shots. Can't justify the cost of getting one for myself at the moment, though.

got mine yesterday night ! :-)
Took me half a day to adjust , the 7D back wheel and Jstick are better but i got used to the smaller wheel and the keypad
the 80D is very responsive, a great camera - i also played with time lapse vedio (nice !)
here are some random pics from NYC

Yep. Got mine yesterday too (printer on BO). Immediately put the grip off my 70D on it with freshly charged batteries and walked straight out the door to a dance recital for my daughter's dance school.

VERY impressed. There's a good chance my 70D is going to be looking a new home and my indecisiveness between the 80D and the 7D Mk II have gone out the window.

I did the right thing (for me).

As long as it's not a cheaper aftermarket grip. At least some of them don't work. I had a pretty good Vivitar on my 70D, worked great, but when I put it on the 80D, it did not recognize even the factory Canon batteries (nor Wasabis). It was either "don't use them", or use them but with no battery level reading whatsoever.

Yep. Completely interchangeable. Same Canon part number for both bodies. Kool, huh? Mine is genuine Canon so I can't speak to third party.

Thanks Blake, I'll look into that. Maybe it's just the Vivitar that doesn't work. Ironically, I've had 3 aftermarket grips for various bodies over the years, and only the Vivitar worked flawlessly (with the 70D)

I've never used one on my T3i and also didn't get one for the 80D. I flip the display inward when I'm not using the camera so it is protected. Never got a scratch on the T3i's display so I guess I'll also be fine with the 80D without a protector. But then, I never shoot in rough conditions.

I don't think it's absolutely necessary, but I usually put one on every body I have, even on the top LCD.
