I borrowed a friend's 100L for a weekend to try it out. Great lens, I love having IS for close-up/macro shots. Can't justify the cost of getting one for myself at the moment, though.Apr 30, 2016 16:13 | #61 Two recent photos: I borrowed a friend's 100L for a weekend to try it out. Immediately put the grip off my 70D on it with freshly charged batteries and walked straight out the door to a dance recital for my daughter's dance school.

There's a good chance my 70D is going to be looking a new home and my indecisiveness between the 80D and the 7D Mk II have gone out the window. I did the right thing (for me). 70D grip on an 80D body? Cool...

I had a pretty good Vivitar on my 70D, worked great, but when I put it on the 80D, it did not recognize even the factory Canon batteries (nor Wasabis). It was either "don't use them", or use them but with no battery level reading whatsoever. WilsonFlyer Goldmember More info Post edited over 7 years ago by WilsonFlyer. | Yep. Completely interchangeable. Same Canon part number for both bodies. Kool, huh? Mine is genuine Canon so I can't speak to third party.

Maybe it's just the Vivitar that doesn't work. Ironically, I've had 3 aftermarket grips for various bodies over the years, and only the Vivitar worked flawlessly (with the 70D) SONY A7RIII | SONY A7III | SONY RX10 IV | SONY RX100 | 24-70 2.8 GM | 70-200 2.8 GM | 16-35 F/4 | PZ 18-105 F/4 | FE 85 1.8 | FE 28-70 | SIGMA 35 1.4 ART | SIGMA 150-600 C | ROKINON 14 2.8

May 02, 2016 12:55 | #73 I've never used one on my T3i and also didn't get one for the 80D. I flip the display inward when I'm not using the camera so it is protected. Never got a scratch on the T3i's display so I guess I'll also be fine with the 80D without a protector. But then, I never shoot in rough conditions. C&C always welcome

May 02, 2016 13:24 | #74 I don't think it's absolutely necessary, but I usually put one on every body I have, even on the top LCD.
