Wow! I have just received my 80D and 18-135 kit lens and I am impressed. I am coming from a 1100D and then a 650D (I think thats a T4i) but I had to sell that two years ago and have been camera-less until today.
First impressions are its weight and its feeling of solidity, the 650D felt lighter and more "plasticky".
It is way more advanced and its going to take me a long time to get to grips with all its features but the things I am loving at the moment.....

Its "heft", feels solid.
That lovely shutter sound at 7fps.
The fast and quiet focus of the 18-135.
The articulated screen.
The touch screen.
Taking photos again :-)

My 80D comes in today, a lot earlier than I was expecting! Really looking forward to trying it out with my 100L and 100-400 II.

What do you guys think about lcd screen protector?
Is it necessary?

From my experience, I don't think that they are necessary. My 4 year old 5D3 has been everywhere without a screen protector, and both the top & rear LCD are in perfect shape. I don't mistreat my gear, but I don't exactly baby it either.

The vello protectors are really nice. They actually enhance the color and contrast of the screen.

These screen protectors always make my equipment look cheap and shoddy.

I bought the cameras to use, and while I'm as careful as anyone is (probably more so, actually), if they break, I'll get them fixed.

To each his own I guess, but that's the way I feel about it. You asked. :)

Well it's protection like a UV filter, there is obvious merit to it. I don't use UV filters or screen protectors on my gear. If something happens I will surely say 'grrr' or even worse ;-)a

The vello protectors look great. I have them and am very particular.

Camera was delivered! I spent some time getting it set up to mimic my 5D3 controls, and then went out shooting. Dreary, overcast day, so the ISO was up in the 6400 neighborhood most of the time. Despite that, I was thrilled by its AF performance and IQ. Manageable noise, and some excellent detail captured. The file handled really well in LR 6, seems that all of the reports are true in that there is a good bit of editing latitude before you start destroying stuff.

I really like the touch screen! It takes a second to remember that I can touch it vs. clicking wheels, and it makes going through menus effortless!

Still getting to know the Wi-Fi function; I'm used to the Eye-Fi card on my 5D3, so this will take some getting used to in order to get proficient.

Thing I really dislike: DOF preview button. Awful placement. I use the DOF button regularly to switch between One Shot and AI Servo, and it's location makes it really... stupid to use.

Image below was shot w/ 100-400 II + 1.4x III. f/8, 1/200, ISO 6400. Can't wait for a nice, sunny day to really put it through it's paces!

Well, here I am again. I hate being so needy...

I'll try to keep my question simple. If that's possible.

I have an 80D. Having come from a t3i, I need to use the live view mode w/exposure sim active. While shooting, I use the white balance histogram and was able to move a reticle into a dark area in live mode to brighten the exposure sim to a suitable exposure. Then take the shot. This is also using a mounted speedlight. The purpose is indoor RealEstate photography

I can't seem to find a similar setting with the 80D. Am I missing settings? Or a similar method? Metering modes?

Read through the manual and talked to Canon tech... I'm lost.

Any help would be more than appreciated!!!

(The orchid was taken with my 80D and a 55-250mm kit lens)

^ Nice orchid shot
i am not sure i understood your questions - but the 80D has all the features and much more in live view compared to your T3i.
You can move the focus square anywhere on screed (by touch or keypad) and you can activate the histogram by toggling the info button (unless you have changed the display options in the custom functions) - hope it helps
enjoy you new great toy !
