A run of great bird pictures and all I got is a lousy chicken.......I feel like such a bush league player.

And what a fine chicken she is, Gord! Nice shot, keep up the good work, get out and shoot more, and above all else, enjoy the experience. Before you know it, the shots will be second nature :-)

well that didn't last long...

Hi Matthew,

I enjoy the time I spend with a camera in hand………….there are so many opportunities to learn and see something new.
And of course, so much to learn from folks like you.

I just caught this little guy a few minutes ago, stealing Cheerios that my wife puts out for the Chipmunks who live in our woodpile.

Just pulled the trigger on this body, expected delivery is three to five days
After doing plenty of research and watching countless videos etc i made the decision to sell my 7d mk2 and purchase this.
I now have my 1dx for wildlife, which is superb, so this is now my new general purpose body, with the added advantage of flip, and touch screen.

A little more experimenting in Lightroom with this picture............not sure I like it.

I am loving this camera. I have owned nearly every model from 450D to 1DIV and this one is by far my favorite and will stay with me for a very long time :)
From my first air show last month... lots of fun and this body kept up quite easily, though a few more FPS would be an ever so small edge but is the only time I ever had that thought, 99%of the time it's the perfect camera for me.

80D is very sensitive to scratches on the plastic part. Even light scratches from finger nails touching the plastic parts where the DOF preview button is create white marks. Maybe it is the nice satin look surface.

The plastic upper part on 6D is not even close to that sensitive to scratches.

Not a big issue but may render in lower second hand value when the GAS hits and you want money for some new fancy camera gear...

Still a great camera!

Wow...

I've mentioned before that just about my only gripe about the 80D is the amount of time it takes to write to the memory card.

I was wrong. It's not the camera. It was the memory cards I was using.

I've been using Sandisk Ultra 80mb/s 32GB cards. I had them when I bought the camera.

I recently looked online and saw that the Sandisk Extreme Pro 95mb/s 64GB was rated much higher for the 80D. I thought it might help a little, so I got one.

Just now did an informal test, shot in RAW:

Ultra (tested 3 times): 18-19 shots in burst before the buffer filled. Anywhere from 28 to 45 seconds before I could review an image.

Extreme Pro: 25-27 images before the buffer filled. Approximately 3 seconds to review an image.

I've been photographing for a while and had no idea that cards could be that much different.

I shot this one yesterday and was amazed at how colorful this tree was especially against the green background.
No idea what kind of tree it is but its color was stunning.
