Bought a battery grip for my new 80D since I'm used to the size and weight with the grip on my 7D2 and T6s. I have an aftermarket grip made by Neewer on my T6s and a Canon OEM grip on my 7D2, and both match the fit and finish of the cameras perfectly. I considered a Canon grip for the 80D, but based on positive reviews on Amazon I went with the DSTE Pro vertical battery grip for 1/4 of the price of the OEM. It also came with two batteries, making it an even better deal than the Canon. The DSTE grip matches both surface finishes of the camera (flat and grip) and everything is tight fitting and solid.

I certainly understand why people buy OEM grips, but the DSTE grip is a great value and works and looks perfect on the 80D.

You have a photo of the 80D with the grip? Im curious about a grip. Just not sure if id want the extra weight. I do have 2 batteries for the 80D now. Fathers day present. So probably no point in a grip now

I can take a photo of the 80D with grip later when I get back home where my 7D2 is. Spare batteries certainly resolve the running out of power issue, but I like the added weight and size of the grip as it both allows me to get a more secure grip on the camera without my little finger hanging off the bottom, and lets me hold the camera steadier with longer lenses on it.

Id like the weight for stability too. Just not so sure about carry it around my neck though.

Here's the 80D with DSTE grip with my Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 Art mounted. I haven't had any problem carrying my cameras, even my 7D2 with Sigma 150-600mm C mounted, using a Movo Neck Strap, but I also have a dual camera harness I use when shooting for long durations.

I really like this combo 80D+ Sigma 100-400
No problem to carry it and take handhold shots

80D likes heron especially when the bird checks itself

so my refurbished 80d just arrived.. looks new .. not in 80d box .. but that's alright.. didn't arrive with usb cable (to connect to pc) .. is that normal?

any way , other wise all seems good .. Ive only fiddled with it for a bit , but i'm liking it so far.. ,

Yes, I guess that's normal. I bought it new and mine also didn't come with a USB cable.
