You guessed it. Dick & Charlie's Tea Room (and house of ill repute in its day).

Just got my 80d. No luck so far selling my 70d. I am trying to use auto ISO in M mode which is not available in my 70d. Felt like it is not working as i am expecting. I used set button to set EC (mapped to iso in 70d). When I hit max limits, not sure what is happening. Can some explain me how safety shift works? Setting EC with set button is hit and miss so far.

On the M manual mode you have to set all manualy. Auto is works well on Av Tv or other mode.

Ok. It is like that with 70d and there is no EC with M mode. I was using set button for iso setting and able to adjust exposure by setting all three in M mode. With 80d, iso suppose to be auto adjusted based on A, T and EC.

EC works in M mode, I think you have to go through the menu to get to it or Q menu button.

Question: I just noticed on my 80D when i depress the shutter button half way the LCD comes on but it seems to stay on during the picture taking procedure, i. e. even when I put the camera to my eye. Don't remember that happening before. Plus the LCD seems to stay on longer than I remember.

Have I got some settings messed up? If there a setting for changing any of that? I've looked but don't seem to find an appropriate setting to change these things. Seems to me that once the camera is brought to the eye the LCD should go black. No?

That is correct. You can use Auto ISO & EC in Manual Mode on the 80D.

That's how I have my wife's set up so she can (hopefully) come up to speed quickly. If you set ISO to Auto (after pressing Q), the EC option becomes active. On her copy, -1/3 to -2/3 stop seems to work pretty well in bright daylight (particularly when you have whites in the scene). In less than really bright daylight, 0 to -1/3 seems to work well. 0 in bright daylight will blow the whites out beyond recovery.

It's a nice way for her to grasp the effects of aperture & shutter speed & still have chance of capturing a reasonably well exposed shot.

Pretty harsh contrast in that one, but I like the pose of the bird:
