I don't have that fancy 100-400, I do however have the fancy 70-200. Serves me quite well for the most part. This lens is stupid sharp. At least to my untrained eye. Aside from birds, I usually have plenty of reach. Sadly, the only real "wildlife" around here is squirrels and ugly ass canadian geese. With the occasional mallard duck.

That's some really nice subject/background separation, and rich color. Nice work!

Thanks. It is a fantastic lens!

Thanks! Yes, probably my best so far. This was a really nice practice bird. It let me get fairly close while on the ground and once I got too close, it took off and kept circling around me (clearly expressing it's discontent over me getting too close for comfort). This happened on two consecutive days. Not too many keepers though, as the weather and light was really terrible on both days.

Part of our local Canada Day celebrations, here’s a Maple tree fairy (I think) with her crystal ball and a young man looking for a place to land.

One of the first few sample shots I took with my new Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 Art lens. Looking forward to working with this lens further, have been wanting one to go with my 50-100 for a while.

This has to be the perfect BIF practice bird. I went to the same meadow as twice before and there it was again. Kept circling around me as long as I was there :-)

Been looking through some of the pics from my recent visit to the beautiful Highlands of Scotland. Here are a colour and monochrome version of the same scene after a bit of tinkering in LR. Can't decide which I prefer.
