Look at the edges of the bird, they blurred and most noticeable. It boils down to technique, don't jerk the camera and be smooth, higher SS would continue to help too. I happen to use +2 for your two +1 settings. Thanks for the advice! I've tried higher shutter speeds and the rate of sharp photos did increase. I'm trying to pan smoothly, but my panning technique definitely needs improvement (plus thos damn birds are fast C&C always welcome

Has MFA been done, this shot looks like it could be slightly back focused, but it could be tracking or technique issue. Again, technique can't be haphazard, and some effort for steadiness is necessary, even with 1/2000 when at 560mm. Definitely can Not be in Mode 1 IS and if you are, it would explain this, try mode 2 or three to help. Yes, when stationary the results are pretty consistent. I have MFAd the lens/extender combo in the meantime and think that sharpness in general improved a little bit. C&C always welcome

Gord ![]() Impressive dynamic range! The tractor being in the shade seems fittingly symbolic as it rests (rusts?) in peace. The ferns growing up through it suggest it hasn't moved for a while (despite good tyres). Is it a Kubota (can't quite read the manufacturer's label)?
