Stop, and Please Read This!!! Time Sensitive and Please Help!!! This was Edited at people's requests.

First of all, this is an extremely time sensitive matter, and I am going to die if this is not solved. The project I need this for is worth 50% of my grade. It is very important, the Apple Store was no help at all nor was Apple Chat. This happened unsurprisingly and in all of a sudden. I am using live view shot to make a stop motion detailing on the French revolution and in new British Columbia Curriculum the project we work on it for a month and it is worth 50% of the final grade. I use EOS Utility Version 2.14.20.

The Issue: I have a Cannon EOS rebel XSI and it was connecting to my computer perfectly. My computer and camera were working perfectly as they are supposed to. The computer received and recognized the camera via USB on all dates before and on March 28th. But on march 29th the computer did not recognize my camera. I thought the wire was broken so I switched the USB cable (micro USB). I thought it was a camera problem so I switched a camera, and no difference was made. I also tried different USB ports. No difference was made, so I contacted Apple live chat and we tried these things: switching accounts to see if the problem was concealed only to my account, we tried to delete any recent added programs, and we did check the disk utility for problems. So then I went to the Apple store and they also tried a SMC reset and a PRAM reset. In both of these cases no difference was made. We used a temp version of El Captain but no difference was made as it was the same as Yosemite.

I need urgent help this is horrible, and Apple store was no help at all, they offered me that they could push for a laptop replacement as an option for like a hugely expensive price, but there was no need since the USB ports pick up everything else!!! Sorry it is just that with the urgency of this matter this angers me. I don't know what I will do, I am probably going to die. This is so serious, if anything happens and this doesn't get solved I will fail and die. Please anyone out there if you are reading this please stop and help.

MAC Specs:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Memory: 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
OSX Yosemite Version 10.10.5
Model Identifier: MacBookPro12,1
Processor Name: Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 2.7 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 3 MB
Storage Capacity: 128 GB (but like every apple product the actual storage space is 15 GB less!!!!!)

Camera
EOS Rebel XSI

Anyone Share Any Links, Anything. I need help urgently, and if things don't work everything goes Downhill!!! It is so serious please I am contacting everyone, and I need help from Apple. Please!! I do not how I can emphasize this anymore on chat!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Help Me Please!!!!!

So, before panicking...what, exactly, is it you need to be doing with the camera that is affecting your grade? I have a difficult time imagining that a simple hardware connection is going to affect your grade that way. Let's see if we can come up with a fix OR simply a different solution to your problem. If you can clearly describe what you are doing with the camera and what your end goal is, I'm betting something can be found.

Also; have you tried connecting the USB cable to a different USB port; not just using a different cable on the same port?

Heya,

What do you need to connect it to the computer for? Tethering? If it's just to unload the photos, get an SD card reader, if your laptop doesn't already have one built into it's side. The only reason I can imagine you'd plug the XSi into the computer via USB for would be for tethering, but the XSi doesn't even do that with full function in Live View, so I know that's not it. That means you're either using it as a "video camera" while tethered via USB, or you're just using it as a means to grab the images you take off the SD card via USB cable to the computer--and if that's the case, instead of freaking out, just take the SD card out and put it in an SD card reader on your laptop. Or if you somehow do not have an SD card reader on your laptop, just get one, they're $5.

Very best,

What they said. We need to know more about your situation in order to be able to help you. Did you receive an upgrade to your OS sometime between the 23rd and the 29th? The XSi is very old and apple may have dropped support for it.

Hello People,
I edited the post to make it less dramatic and more informative. But srsly its very dramatic.

Ok I did not undergo any software upgrades, and the new post might help you with it.

Could you possibly borrow a computer from someone just long enough to get your project done?

I am not sure if I can answer that, my brother does have a laptop but I need to check if the camera even connects to that, I think it might be a problem with the camera, I will let everyone know what is working or if nothing is in 3 hours
