Just before sunrise these herd of elk were grazing on a farmers field. Just on the edge of the foothills of the Kananaskis Rocky Mountains. Not long after they retreated to the sanctity of the forest.

I viewed at 100% and counted, just in case anyone was wondering ;)

I'm in Canmore now and have seen a couple of herds around town, but nothing like this! Can I ask where about in Kananaskis?

Nice find on the elk herd. That's a lotta elk for a herd these days. Most of the farmers and ranchers in my neighborhood are never to pleased when these guys show up in numbers. TFS

I haven't seen any myself, but there might be. It is an unseasonably warm spring.
