Yesterday I was shooting with my 6D and 500f4 and started getting issues with the autofocus...
Sometimes the camera would not refocus, like the autofocus had stuck and then it would work again after a while. I tried my 70-200 on it and the problem didn't seem to occur again so I took my 500f4 into the local shop for testing..
Today using my 70-200 the problem is happening again. It happens more often if I rotate the focusing ring back and forth several times and then try to AF. The camera will not AF on any subject, and then suddenly it will start working again. Turning the camera off and on again when it is doing this makes no difference.
I have done a reset on the camera, cleaned the contacts, tried using a different button for focus doesn't make a difference.
Camera is 1 month out of warranty.
Any ideas anyone?

That was the first thing I checked John.....but it does it with different lenses so must be an issue with the camera.

You might want to try resetting the camera to factory default.

I have it on 1: stop focus search..

But being completely honest, I did change some autofocus settings the morning my problem started ...to see if I could get it to track a bit better...
I will change it to the other setting and see what happens...
Thanks and fingers crossed...

Setting "0" should clear up the problem.

Don't understand why the manual says to use setting "1" for telephoto lenses though.. I was OK till I changed to that..
I can cancel the 1DX order now :p
