Little River drag stip. Temple texas

So they had the Southwest Hot Rod Association race yesterday. it was nostalgia day which was bonus. I brought my youngest with me so it added some serious limitations for different shooting perspectives. To cripple that even more, it was a local track that did have some very good racing but really bad locations for getting good shots. Most of the images were taken in the top corner of the bleachers which was very close to the action but proved difficult to get decent panning or a better view of both lanes and both cars. In posting the following few pics were the ones i thought turned out kind of ok. I'm still a rookie x100 but enjoy taking pics. I also learned my camera is seriously lacking the oommpphh to shoot in Raw but my t2i was having nothing to do with that producing only a measly 3 frames before the buffer was puking. I switched over JPEG which gave me the buffer of about 12 shots but a max of 5fps. a 7D mk ii is on the very near future radar to resolve that problem.
ok... enough bi*$hing. So like i said previously, the Camera is a canon t2, the lens used was a Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM.

I ran my Trans Am there years ago-early to late 80s. Is the little bridge that goes over the track about 1/3 of the way down still there?

There was no bridge there. That would of helped grab some better pics. For the size of the track, it did provide some really good racing.

The teams definitely help show the folks/fans that most of the them (drivers) were an example of true love for the sport. I need to figure out how to incorporate that story with pics. To watch a driver make a run and to have him jump out of his car the minute it hits the pits and start wrenching is getting some serious respect from me.
