So I built this just to see if I could and I was having a slow month at work. Main rail is a 48" long 80/20 1"x1" rail. You can purchase these longer and shorter. The ends and carriage are all 3D printed using black abs. The motor is a continuous rotating servo with speed control, and the entire thing runs off 4 AA batteries. The speed control will run in both directions and slow down or speed up the servo. It now has a smaller ball head on it, not the one that is in the pictures. All hardware is stainless as well.
I have taken two sample videos in my living room. As you can hear its has some noise while running so you would need to put music over the video in final editing. There is some shake in a few parts, that is where I touched the control mid move to adjust speed, this can be eliminated by moving the controls off the sled, I planned to set it and let it go then trim the start and end of each video.
