A few years back I tried finding if there were any adaptors for the geared heads that manfrotto makes for fitting Arca Swiss style quick release plates too and came across a general lack of anything being produced beyond custom jobs where you'd be welding bits of metal together.

Even when searching these don't seem to come up that high; but I 've recently come across something newer that I think covers the need

So I'm wondering if any have used these adaptors; namely the last one I've linked to as it would seem the best for the junior geared head. I'd be interested to hear of any feedback people have for these as at present I've really not found all that much.

They've been recommended here. The one you're interested in is, I think, the one I bookmarked years ago, as I use a Manfrotto 410 head as well. So far, I haven't yet purchased it because I really have nothing (besides my fisheye ring) that uses the ArcaSwiss system. If I ever buy that Novoflex focusing rail, then I'll have to spring for that Hejnar adapter as well.

I never bothered on these conversions for my 405 or 410 heads. Simply because i can attach a arca clamp directly to the QR plate. I tried the kirk adapter but it didn,t make any difference (as long as yout got clamp with long enough shaft)

That's what I do too. The screw-thread clamp I got lines up nicely with the edge of the RC4 plate.

+1 I just mounted my Hejnar QR clamp (nice clamp!) to the OR plate on my 410 head - it's nice and solid.

The Hejnar adapter is definitely more rigid than attaching an AS clamp to the Manfrotto plate, but only if you try you can see whether it would make any difference to you or not. You can use (purple or blue) Loctite and/or some other ways to make the clamp more secure on the plate. Probably in almost all situations the difference doesn't matter.

Interesting, i doubt it makes a difference in real life. However it's a much cleaner solution, and the misstake to release the plate is removed. (which i did a lot in the beginning.. :-)

Might try it, it was that expensive.

Thanx!
