I am astounded by the cleverness and creativity of the Title Fairy. She has a knack for taking our own words and using them against us in the form of apparently self-defecating titles.

But I see a problem with the system:
When a member's title gets changed, the old title just disappears. POOF - it's gone forever!

I think this is a shame, as there have been some extremely clever and entertaining titles over the years that have now become extinct.

Additionally, there are phases that the Title Fairy goes thru, such as the recent smell/stink theme, and it would be nice to have a way to track these phases - the date that they start and the date that they end, along with all of the titles that were representative of that particular phase. As it is now, there is no documentation of these phases or the titles they produced, which leaves a POTN historian such as myself with no data to research.

Is there some way that a record could be kept of a member's previous titles?

Perhaps POTN's AMASS software could be programed to keep track of member's previous titles?
If so, then they could be listed in the "member page" for each member.
And it could list the dates during which each title was "active".

Or maybe we could keep an informal record of such titles in a thread such as this........but that could result in a lot of disorganization, and wouldn't really allow for anyone to see all of a member's past titles at a glance. I mean, who wants to search thru an entire thread just to see if some tidbit of information is buried somewhere within the dozens of posts?

Anyway, I am interested in seeing if any other members would be interested in this. Frankly, I am tired of performing screen captures of every title and saving them to my "POTN Title Folder". At some point there are going to be so many screen shots in that folder that I won't be able to look up the ones I am looking for without doing a lot of unnecessary work.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Tom, did you mean to say self-deprecating?

He may have meant exactly what he said. Think about it for a moment, especially with respect to some of the less-flattering titles people have earned.

Yeah, when I read further into his post I realized what he may have meant. Not being a follower of the TF threads I wasn't aware there was self-defecating movement under way.

Also, Tom doesn't make too many (any) grammar mistakes.

But, I decided to leave my post there and see how he responded.

I meant both.....the play on words. But I actually looked it up before I posted it and saw that "self-defecating" has a fair deal of coverage in the Urban Dictionary, which gave me all the more reason to write it that way.

I agree, I'd like to see title history, esp. on LV Moose, he has had so many!

At one time people were self-reporting here.
