Awhile back, my friend shot an image that resulted in this artifact.
Has anyone come across this issue before? Just curious what is the issue and whether it will recur.
Thanks!

sandpiper Cream of the Crop More info | Apr 09, 2016 07:48 | #3 That is a corrupted image file. Could be a faulty card, a faulty connection when downloading to the computer (cable, card reader etc.) a random glitch in camera or other possibilities. I had a single corrupt image shortly after getting my 5D3 three years ago, didn't recur for two years then I got one more, nothing since. That is 2 occurences in around 60,000 clicks so I don't worry about it.

neacail Goldmember More info | Apr 09, 2016 13:15 | #5 I used a brand new card reader that did that to a bunch of my photographs. It was the first time I ever used a card reader to transfer files to my computer instead of plugging the camera into the computer with the USB cable. Shelley

As stated above . . . it is mostly like the card, the reader, or the cable. The camera itself is probably just fine. thank goodness it had nothing to do with the camera/lens. thanks guys!
