I recently got a sun filter that fits over my 400mm DO II lens hood + 2x III extender- I am finding this very fascinating - amazed at the shots from so far away -
they were taken 2 days apart you can see the travel of the sunspot - the one on the left with my EOS 5d MK III - the one on the right with my EOS 1d Mk IV - sort of illustrates the difference in a full frame and a 1.3 crop body -
the enlargements are pretty good from both - I don't have a telescope - just the cameras but I am really amazed a what you can get - enjoy

Great shots, which filter did you get? Do you have a link? Been looking for something like this too.

That's cool, one of these days I'll give this a try, I'd heard about people using welder's masks as a way to image the sun but a filter like this is obviously a much better way to go.

This is the sunspot this morning - it is getting bigger - the estimate is larger than 2x of Earth

Holy crap, any ideas on possible CME's or solar flares? Wondering if there's a chance for some low latitude auroras this weekend.

Space weather site has been around since the PC was available. Great website especially for its' galleries and loads of heads up info. Any big event will always be posted there at least once before it happens. Its kinda like watching the news and weather every evening.

This is a very stable spot configuration. I wouldn't expect much more than B and C class minor flares
