Faulty 18-105G?

Hi all,

So i bought a Sony 18-105G series lens from a seller on ebay and i have found a 'feature' or fault with the lens...

When i have it paired with my Sony A6000 i can turn my camera off and leave it with the lens pointing downward (on a peak designs capture clip) When i turn the camera back on and bring the camera up to my eye the lens will not focus. In order to get it to focus i need to point the lens upward and then back to my eye.

As this is not a mechanical lens i understand that it resets the zoom to 18mm however i don't think the electronic mechagnism is engaging.

So long and short, does this sound like a feature or fault? Should i contact Sony about the issue?

i think you should contact sony, I ordered a new 18-105g and just arrived today, will check it out after office.

update: i have not experience that feature/fault on the lens. brought it with me today in the office. btw, how do you like the build?

update: after 7 days, of light use i am returning my copy. can not justify$548 for mediocre IQ. ordering additional primes

That is not encouraging, lol. I just put in a rental for next weekend. Was planning to use it strictly for video.

also its way to big for my style, i cant put it on my tamrac jazz bag cause its way too long.

to be honest i like mine, the IQ and OS is pretty good!

good to hear you like the lens, currently waiting for my new sigma prime. =D we shall see. =D aside from my rok, i have not found any other lens that connects to my a6000.

Rok is on my list, i had the bower on my Canon 1D and loved it!
