I've seen bits and pieces of astro done with 7D2 and was quite impressed with the noise handling but wondering if you shoot astro are you happy with it?

The reason being, I could get the 6D again but really miss the reach + shooting sports/wildlife.

Thoughts?

I've used one for about a year. other than some banding am getting great results. I also use it for wildlife, mounted with a Tamron 150-600mm.
Great camera for all around use!

Sounds great! Ya I only shoot maybe couple times a year (due to driving distance for low light pollution) and kind of glad for now that I made the switch. The AF on this thing is ridiculously good :)

There is a good writeup floating around out there on how the 7DII is pretty much the king of Canon bodies FOR doing astro work due to its sensor's noise characteristics; but I can't find it right at the moment. I've done some occasional milky way shooting with it and, of course, the requisite moon shots. I've found it to perform quite nicely in the instances that I have attempted so far.

Clarkvision has great writeups for a lot of camera sensors and a wealth of other astrophotography info.
