My studio area is great lots of open room tile floors, but it created a horrible echo. I'm not sure what the best solution is to fix it. But I have some styrofoam boards. And was thinking of using them. Putting the, on caster wheels so I can roll the, out around the room when I'm filming..

Would love to hear your input, thoughts, ideas.

Room dimensions?

Types of surfaces and types of construction?

I don't think rigid styro is going to help any, particularly not with that flat surface. In the (bad) old days ('70's) we used to hang shag carpet remnants on the walls. Often several layers. Now there's convoluted foam panels you can get pretty cheap from Amazon and eBay. Glue them to your styro panels and add wheels if you want them to be mobile.

It really depends on the dimensions of the room and the frequency of echo that you're trying to eliminate. I had a square living room that had a terrible reverberating echo, and I managed to mitigate it pretty well by using ceiling tiles (spaced out, covered in thin fabric) on the walls.

Another cheap DIY panel type that I've seen was made of thin plywood or veneer that was bowed out from the wall in a convex shape. The panels were held in place by wood slats on either side. This works as an inexpensive diffusion panel and could work really well when combined with something like ceiling tiles. You could alternate panels to get the desired result. But it's really all about room dimensions and placement.

Look here https://www.gearslutz.com …tudio-building-acoustics/ (external link) and particularly the acoustic panel sub-forum. There is a guy who frequents that forum and sells panels at a very reasonable cost, competitive with building your own rock wool panels.
