Just bought this lens. It was hard to buy a Tokina since I am not a real big fan of off brand lenses but I must admit this is a very nice lens. I think it the equal of the Nikkor, but that's mu opinion. What's yours?

I actually have shunned all off brand lenses until I bought Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD Lens for Nikon and the Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD Zoom Lens. These are superb lenses.

I didn't know what I was missing and the money one can save not buying Nikkor.

I have never tried the Tokina 16-28, but I agree that some of the third-party lenses now are outstanding. I went for the Tamron 70-200 VC and Tokina 100 macro over the Nikon versions and no regrets.

When I switched back to Nikon four years ago I purchased one new. It was a sharp lens but had a fatal flaw - flare. Landscapes in daylight were impossible with the flare and I wound up with the Nikon 16-35 which has served me well since.
